I did it when I attempted to use the grill for the first time by myself. Pulling it away from the house would have seemed to be obvious - but my husband's car was pulled up beside it (to make extra room for parking since he's gone) and that got my attention. I certainly didn't want to catch his car on fire. I guess I should have been as vigilant about the siding of the house.
I blame Mr. Wonderful totally - for not being here to grill for us. I can't blame myself...I would be too mad at me, probably from the shame that I've never learned to, scratch that, tried to, grill until now. I also have to figure out a way to get it fixed before he comes home. There is no need to bother him with such domestic trivialities, right? Right?
He's been so sweet since he took those GSA orders to Iraq. I have been trying to build a bridge and get over it, trying to be supportive and calm. I dutifully tell family members that "it won't be so bad" and "he'll be fine!" Nevermind that, selfishly I'm thinking, what about me? I'll have another year without him, the kids will have another year without him, I'll have another year of managing our kids, my school and work, the house, and anything else that randomly comes up (almost burning the house down jumps to mind). I find myself placating them the same way he placated me when telling me of his decision...maybe if I repeat it enough I'll believe it myself, right? But...changing gears...as part of his time between deployments he wanted us to take a long overdue "honeymoon." Can one even have a honeymoon after having kids? It's a little late in the game, isn't it? Still, those who know Uncle Sam's influence over scheduling understand I'm sure. So, Hawaii it is. A whole, luxurious, childless, sleeping in late, sex on the beach (the drink, not the...well, maybe even that too!) week...in Hawaii...with Mr. Wonderful. Just the two of us! I swear I just might tell people we DID just get married for the fun of it. We are certainly going to act like we are!
And actually, that just may be the perfect time to tell him about the grill incident ;-)
*But seriously - anyone got any local rec's for a siding professional?*

I wil ltry
You need to pull of a piece of the siding and take it Norandex or ted Lansing in Norfolk. MAtch it the best you can and pay someone to put it up. You will pay out the nose for a simple job to be completed if they ride around doing this for you.
It may not match due to age of the siding.
Good luck.
