A jury is expected to continue deliberations Thursday in the trial of Shawn Sir Charles Ward and Julian “Ramel’’ Barksdale, two local men charged in the killing of a 1-year-old girl during a South Norfolk home invasion.
The six-man, six-woman jury began deliberations at 9:25 a.m. and retired for the day without a verdict shortly before 5 p.m.
Ward, 22, and Barksdale, 20, are charged in the slaying of Ny-Asia Tillmon, an infant shot in the head Nov. 10 when masked gunmen forced their way into a home in the 3700 block of Bainbridge Road. Two others in the home with the infant were wounded.
According to court testimony, as many as three people forced their way into the front door of the first-floor apartment. A witness identified Ward and Barksdale as two of the culprits. A third person has never been arrested or identified .
