Pet hair lifter

Posted to: Pets

What is it? A sponge that can be used to remove pet hair on upholstery, drapes, clothing, bedding and more.

What does it claim? To instantly remove pet hair with just a wipe and without leaving any residue.

Who tested it? Norfolk resident Janet LaMonica.

What are the instructions? The Pet Hair Lifter is used dry. Hold it in your hand then rub pet hair off surfaces with an even, sweeping motion. Start at the top of the surface to be cleaned and exert moderate pressure. Then simply pick up and dispose gathered pet hair and your sponge is ready to go again. It can be washed with soap and water, but be sure to allow it to dry thoroughly before you reuse it. Do not store it near heat or in direct sunlight.

Did it work? Our tester was not impressed. She has two dogs, Charm and Vixen, that she said are "shed masters." She has to vacuum the couch almost daily. Using The Pet Hair Lifter caused the hair to fly around and create more of a mess.

Cost/availability? We purchased the Pet Hair Lifter at Linens 'N Things for $4.99.

Additional comments: It can also be used for other things, like cleaning auto interiors or computer screens. The makers say it also will clean walls and woodwork for painting and remove dust, dirt and pollen from window screens, lampshades, Venetian blinds and drapes.
