The region finally could get some rain from Fay, now downgraded to a tropical depression, the National Weather Service says.

Today’s forecast includes a 30 percent chance of rain through tonight with a high of 80, the weather service says.

A new storm, Gustav, has grown into a hurricane headed toward Cuba and is not expected to affect Hampton Roads, according to the weather service forecast track.

A warning has been issued for a moderate risk of rip currents at the beaches along Hampton Roads, the Eastern Shore and North Carolina.

A small craft advisory also was issued by the weather service.

Air quality today in Hampton Roads is expected to be good, according to the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality.
