A vice president of Norfolk-based People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals said today that his group was not behind any e-mails that a Brooklyn, N.Y., rabbi claims contained anti-Semitic messages in protest of the method of killing for a ritual to atone for sin before Yom Kippur.
The rabbi told the Associated Press that some of the people who sent e-mails had added threatening and anti-Semitic comments to an online PETA form letter. He said he made a complaint with police, but it's unclear if an investigation is underway.
Bruce Friedrich, vice president of PETA, said by phone today that his group sent a letter to police on Friday, asking for clarification of the complaint. By midday today, they hadn’t received a reply, he said.
“We are asking the police to let us know if there’s any basis to the claims,” Friedrich said.
Although the animal rights group does oppose the ritual, PETA doesn’t condone anti-Semitic messages, Friedrich said.
“We hope that police do fully investigate,” Friedrich said. “We’d be happy to chat with them.”

is it me
Is it me or is the Pilot giving a lot of press towards People Eating Tasty Animals, this is like the third story in the past two days, I'm not complaining, it gives me a nice chuckle when I check the website in the morning.
Investigate PETA
There should be an investigation into all of the unlawful activities of PETA. I believe this wacko organization defrauds people by suggesting that they (PETA) help animals when in reality they are simply a bunch of nuts running around complaining about idiotic things like people eating fish.
PETA should read
PETA should read what their members put in the "personalize your message" section of any petition. This group is under constant scrutiny, so they should at least scroll through the messages before endorsing a petition and sending it to a rabbi! Geez Louise!
We....
...believe you Pita!.....(nod,nod-wink-wink)
Extremists.
So who do we believe, the radical extremists or the people who do not bother anyone?
