Governor's School serves up music and dance

NORFOLK
When you put talent, youth and enthusiasm in the spotlight, magic can happen.
The Governor's School for the Arts will concoct that very sort of alchemy Friday, Jan. 9, Saturday, Jan. 10, and Sunday, Jan. 11, when its music and dance students present winter concerts.

THE VIRGINIA SYMPHONY orchestra will play some of the works of Richard Wagner in concerts this weekend, but there's a good chance that many people in Hampton Roads, and not just classical music lovers, already have gotten a taste of it this week.

People are still going out on the town, but spending less

WITH THE ECONOMY down, surely that means that pastimes reliant on disposable income, like clubbing and bar-hopping, have all but ceased, right? Not really. Bar and nightclub owners across Tidewater are acknowledging a dip in revenues, but overall, they say, things aren't as terrible as you might expect.
